The Air Quality Index (AQI) is an indicator of the quality of the air we breathe in a particular area. It is a measure of several pollutants in the atmosphere: ozone, nitrogen dioxide, sulfur dioxide, carbon monoxide, airborne particulate matter less than 2.5 micrometers in diameter (PM2.5), and airborne particulate matter larger than 10 micrometers in diameter (PM10).
The higher the index value, the worse the air quality. An AQI value of 100 or above indicates that the air is unhealthy and an AQI value of 200 or above indicates very unhealthy.

To use this API, simply create an account with EPA’s AirNow website. Once you have an account, you can sign up for an API key. The API keys allow you to access the API endpoint. Once you have your API key, you can begin making API calls to retrieve data. The Air Quality Index API provides a wide range of data for both current and historical air quality levels. It also includes AQI maps, pollution readings, and health advice as well as forecasts for up to 16 days into the future.
