Women's digital entrepreneurship in Burkina: 50 laureates rewarded by UNDP and AFP-PME

The closing ceremony of the ''Women Digital Masterclass Learning Tour'' initiative took place on Monday, June 27, 2022 in Ouagadougou, followed by the presentation of digital kits to 50 laureates. This initiative aims to train women and young entrepreneurs in the use of digital technology.
The constraints of covid-19 have highlighted the contribution of dynamism in the digital field, highlighting the contribution of digitalization to business development. It is in view of the positive effects of this new technology that players, in this case the Agency for Financing Small and Medium Enterprises (AFP-PME) in partnership with the United Nations Development Program (UNDP) have set up the "Women Digital Masterclass Learning Tour" initiative to improve the skills of women and young girls who are entrepreneurs or who wish to undertake in the field of digitalization.
In this vein, an awareness campaign was launched for the benefit of 662 women and girls in the Center, North, Center-North, Hauts-Bassins and Center-Ouest regions. At the end of this training, 50 of them, in addition to internally displaced persons, benefited from support in ten sessions lasting three days each, through a six-phase approach in the different regions previously quoted.

The 50 winners each received a digital kit (Camons 15 brand telephone). According to the UNDP country representative in Burkina Faso, Abdoulaye Wali, this first initiative was a success. He congratulated the recipients for their talent and their entrepreneurial commitment in digital and especially for the accomplishment of the itinerary of this Digital Masterclass Learning Tour. In addition, he explained that with this project, the UNDP and AFP-PME intend to participate in removing the multiple obstacles that prevent women from accessing the advantages of digital technology and contribute to the reduction of inequalities.

Latifatou Ouédraogo is the winner of the "Women Digital Masterclass Learning Tour" initiative. For her, women are and will remain the pillar of a nation's economic development, hence the need to include them in development programs. She also proved to be persuasive by asserting that training women entrepreneurs in the use of digital means letting them know that there are possibilities of offering or marketing (Facebook page, WhatsApp, YouTube, etc.) their articles at the around the world without having to travel.
